Mr. Wheat, first-ever biography of Milton Young,
The first-ever biography of Milton R. Young, North Dakota’s longest-serving U.S. Senator, is being published on March 12, the 65th anniversary of Young’s appointment to the U.S. Senate. Mr. Wheat: A Biography of U.S. Senator Milton R. Young was written by Andrea Winkjer Collin and Richard E. Collin of Bismarck. Both longtime North Dakota journalists and writers, she is editor of the state magazine, North Dakota Horizons, and he is the Communications and Education Director for the State Historical Society of North Dakota. It also includes the 1989 University of North Dakota master’s thesis written by Allan C. Young of Grand Forks on Race of the Century: Guy vs. Young 1974 North DakotaU.S. Senate Election. Prominent throughout the 560-page book are direct quotations from Senator Young from extensive oral interviews conducted by then-University of North Dakota History Professor Dr. D. Jerome Tweton in 1979 and 1980, shortly before Young left office. Transcripts of interviews with Tweton and U.S. Senate Historian Donald Ritchie about Young are also in the book.

LAURAINE SNELLING'S FIRST NORTH DAKOTA NOVELS BACK IN PRINT
The first five of the 22 novels best-selling author Lauraine Snelling has based in North Dakota are now back in print. Centered around the fictional town of Soldahl, North Dakota, the books were first published in the mid-1990s.

BOOK ABOUT MID-19th CENTURY FUR TRADE PUBLISHED
A new book providing unique insights into the mid-19th Century fur trade of the Upper Missouri River is now available from the State Historical Society of North Dakota. Twilight of the Upper Missouri River Fur Trade: The Journals of Henry A. Boller, is edited by renowned Northern Plains scholar W. Raymond Wood, the author or editor of several books about prehistory and early history along the Missouri River.
