Koming to Amerika:
An Immigrant's Story
By Claus Lembke
"You ought to write a book!" Have you ever said that to someone after hearing one amusing and interesting story after another? Well, Claus Lembke is one of those people and this is his long-awaited book!
In 1965, a 22-year-old Claus Lembke immigrated to America to farm with his uncle near Wolverton, Minnesota. Born in Nazi-occupied Poland, his mother had Danish heritage and he grew up farming with his father in West Germany. After finishing a degree in agriculture and serving in the German Army under the NATO Command, he boarded a ship and sailed across the ocean to a new life.
In this entertaining book, Claus writes about his childhood days in Germany, his military service, his first years of farming in Minnesota, relocating to Fargo and beginning a career in real estate, and moving to Bismarck to become the CEO of the North Dakota Association of Realtors. Claus also writes about raising a family with wife Marsha, their involvement in community and political activities, their homes and lake homes and several hobbies.
Featuring a Foreword by Governor Jack Dalrymple, this story of Claus finding and living the American Dream will bring readers a new perspective about the blessing of life in America.
